In addition to being 100% renewable, it is a low carbon gas that emits 78 % less CO2 than conventional propane. Finally, it is compatible with existing propane installations. <strong>Ripack explains why you should work with biopropane.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><strong>What is biopropane? <\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Biopropane is a biogas created from renewable materials, such as recycled oils and vegetable oils. These materials, all derived from biomass, have been given the name &#8220;biopropane&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>The raw materials associated with the production of biopropane are as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Palm oil fatty acid distillate<\/li>\n<li>Rapeseed oil<\/li>\n<li>Used edible oils<\/li>\n<li>Palm oil<\/li>\n<li>Soya oil<\/li>\n<li>Sunflower oil<\/li>\n<li>Acid residues<\/li>\n<li>Suet<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The molecule that makes up biopropane is the same as that of conventional propane, which will allow it to be compatible with the existing distribution network.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>How is biopropane made?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Biopropane is produced in biofuel refineries, which are supplied with agricultural feedstock, such as vegetable oils, and industrial feedstock, such as cooking oils or animal fats.<\/p>\n<p>The oils undergo a hydro treatment process (Hydro treated Vegetable Oils &#8211; HVO), which produces a fuel base close to that obtained during the distillation of crude oil.<\/p>\n<p>The biopropane will then be conditioned, stored and transported in the same way as conventional propane.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Advantages of biopropane<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The carbon footprint of biopropane is small, with only 60 g CO2e \/ kWh, or 78 % less CO2 emissions than conventional propane.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, the combustion of biopropane is identical to that of standard propane, which will result in good air quality, as it emits virtually no fine particles.<\/p>\n<p>Biopropane fumes will therefore not affect your operator.<\/p>\n<p>The properties of the propane are preserved, which will thus make it possible to obtain the same output as that of conventional propane.<\/p>\n<p>Biopropane can circulate through the same pipes and gas supply lines as propane, so no modifications are required. As for the storage of biopropane cylinders, the rules remain the same.
