The first reason for switching from stretch film to shrink wrap is generally the weight of the loads being protected. With stretch film, load stability is only guaranteed horizontally (by surrounding the load) and not vertically (by pressing on the load).
The bi-oriented shrinkage of our films and covers enables the load to be flattened and stabilised on the pallet.
What’s more, the technical nature of the shrink wraps available on the market means that the film thickness, composition and shrinkage can be adjusted to suit the load concerned.
Find the right solution for your needs
Shrink wrap can be up to 300 microns thick. In general, for gusseted heat shrink tubing, the average is between 110 and 150 microns. With this type of thickness, a large proportion of products and pallet weights are covered.
For bundling heavy loads, layflat shrink wrap can sometimes be used, and the sealability characteristics of shrink wraps will allow several thicknesses to be used and protective packaging heavy loads bundle to be obtained.
By way of comparison, stretch film fluctuates around 20 microns, meaning a large number of successive layers to achieve an identical thickness with no barrier to moisture or significant load stability.
The packaging of heavy goods will be fast and secure thanks to heat-shrinkable film. The bi-directional shrinking of our films and covers ensures load stability on the pallet. Be sure to let the film pass under the pallet to ensure that the heavy load is securely fastened to the pallet. Once your heavy loads are well protected under the shrink wrap, they can be transported and stored in complete safety.

Anti-corrosion films are available, diffusing protective agents during transport. Opaque shrink wrap with certified UV protection for 12 months protect your paintwork or seals from the sun’s rays. Films incorporating areas covered with a non-woven material can also be used to protective packaging heavy loads sensitive paintwork from the risk of rubbing during transport. Finally, some heat-shrinkable covers can also be fire-retardant. This delays the spread of heat.
